I need to override retrieveByUsername method of sfGuardUserTable class. I see that sfGuardUserTable.class.php defines an empty class that extends PluginsfGuardUserTable class which contains all the logic. Does this mean that I can change sfGuardUserTable.class.php file or I should copy it to my lib/model and than change that copy, or something third? What is the preferred way?

Also I saw in a few topics that some users mention that if doctrine-buildall task generates sfGuard* files in my lib/model I should delete them. Did I understand this right, because I don't see that those generated classes already exist somewhere else, like under the plugins folder?

I am using symfony 1.4.
