For now, the symfony plugins are hosted in the SVN repository. You will find a list of existing plugins at

http://www.symfony-project.com/trac/browser/plugins

To have a list of the plugins already packaged and ready to be installed via PEAR (or the symfony CLI), use the PEAR list-all command:
$ pear list-all -c symfony
For more information about plugin installation and management, make sure you read the related documentation.

Hi

I am trying to install plugin on my symfony project it gives me an error.I'm not sure whether is symfony error or it has something to do with PEAR.

this is what I did
1-> symfony plugin-install local lib/plugins/symfony/plugins/sfShoppingCart

then I get this error

Hi!
Now that the plugin-install via PEAR bug is corrected I still have some problems to install my own plugin from a PEAR channel.

# symfony plugin-install pear.mydomain.com/myPlugin-beta

>> plugin    installing plugin "pear.mydomain.com/myPlugin-beta"
>> pear Attempting to discover channel "pear.mydomain.com"...
>> pear      downloading channel.xml ...
>> pear Starting to download channel.xml (624 bytes)
>> pear      ....done: 624 bytes
>> pear      Channel "pear.mydomain.com" i...pear config-set auto_discover 1
>> pear      unknown channel "pear.mydomain...omain.com/myPlugin-beta"
>> pear      invalid package name/package fi...omain.com/myPlugin-beta"
>> pear Cannot initialize 'pear.mydom...invalid or missing package file
>> pear Package "pear.mydomain.com/myPlugin-beta" is not valid

What am I missing here? The package validate via pear and the channel is already discovered in pear.

Anyone?

For anyone interested.

If you try to use the getObjects method of the sfShoppingCart you will probabbly get a propel exception.
The problem is that the plugin uses a "standard" constant for the primary key of a table. So what if my table's primary key is not named ID ??
see: sfShoppingCart.class.php#L354

I've tried this and it seems to work ok:

replace line 354:
$c->add(constant($class.'Peer::ID'), $ids, Criteria::IN);

with:
eval("\$map = new {$class}MapBuilder;");
$map->doBuild();
$table_columns = $map->getDatabaseMap()->getTable(strtolower($class))->getColumns();
foreach($table_columns as $propel_name => $column) {
  if($column->isPrimaryKey()) {
    $pk = $propel_name;
  }
}
$c->add(constant($class.'Peer::'.$pk), $ids, Criteria::IN);

I can't really say anything about the code beeing optimised or the errors beeing treated...but it works.

Hi!
I'm trying sfGuard plugin and in my project I need to use a java-applet to upload multiple files. This applet is trying to pass the session id in the request to the server, but Symfony replies with the loginpage...

Is it possible for me to have the applet authenticated by using the session id in the request or is there any other way to do it?

This is not technically a Symfony plugin, though it does sit in the plugins folder when following the askeet tutorial so I hope it's ok on this forum.

I want to alter the PorterStemmer or create some other way of indexing numbers and letters too when building a search index. For example, a site I'm building has a number of specifications for each product written in the form 250mm, 3.2W and 1.2ohms etc. For some reason the PorterStemmer in the askeet tutorial skips all these and thus the numeric specifications for a product are not searchable.

Has anyone ever done that or had experience with that? Any help would be appreciated

It seems that the sfGuard schema defaults to sqllite? It does not create the tables in INNODB and also has square brakets [] around the fields, causing the table creatins to fail. I mannually removed these brackets and manually create dthe tables. Can we change the default to mysql with innodb??

Hi,
I took my working model from one project and am trying to turn it into a plugin for another project.

So I just copied my schema.xml to the plugin's config dir, and added noxsd="true" package="plugins.sfMyPlugin.lib.model"
to the database tag. I copied the complete lib directory, and made a module in the second project that referenced a peer class in the plugin.

According to the plugin doc, the plugin's lib/model classes should just get autoloaded. But that's just not the case; I get a sfAutoloadException when referencing the class! I imagine, symfony is not looking in the plugin's lib/model directory.

What am I missing? Confused

Thanks

How to Join two tables that don't have a relation?

Example:

table_a:
id
foo_id

foo:
id
name

bar (extends objects):
type

In this case, table_a has a relation to foo, but we want to join it with bar

If validation rule is:

loginValidator:
  class:          sfDoctrineUniqueValidator
  param:
    class:        User
    column:       login
    unique_error: error

Doctrine will throw exception
The "connection" parameter is mandatory for the sfDoctrineUniqueValidator validator.

If I define connection parameter, all works fine:

loginValidator:
  class:          sfDoctrineUniqueValidator
  param:
    class:        User
    column:       login
    connection:   connectionname
    unique_error: error

I think, sfDoctrineUniqueValidator must get default connection if other not defined.

I replaced:

    if (!$this->getParameter('connection'))
    {
      throw new sfValidatorException('The "connection" parameter is mandatory for the sfDoctrineUniqueValidator validator.');
    }

with

    if (!$this->getParameter('connection'))
    {

      $connection = sfConfig::get('sf_default_database', null);
      if($connection === null)
      {
        throw new sfValidatorException('To use sfDoctrineUniqueValidator with no connection argument you must specify a default connection default_database in settings.yml');
      }
      $this->setParameter('connection',$connection);
    }

I think it will be useful.

Hi,
I'm using 0.6.3 in a production environment (waiting for 1.0 final). Seems like all the plugins are now only for 1.0RC or beta.
Is there a pear repository where I can find old plugins for the current stable version of symfony ? I'd like to install locally sfFeedPlugin.
Thanks for your help.

Folks/core team

I wonder if there would be value in having a status page for plugins? I am keen to use sfGuard and Doctrine, but the former seems to be in flux at present, whilst I believe the latter is not yet considered stable enough for production.

It would be good, I think, to have a specific system on this site to show the (a) status ie alpha/beta etc, and ideally also (b) outstanding bugs in trac, per plugin. Something a bit like this, maybe?

I just started using sfFormValidation today. I think its a great idea and could go really far, but either I am not using it correctly, or it is a little buggy and lack some basic features.

For example, it seems to only provide js validation for text fields and not text boxes. Also, it only displays an error notification GIF and none of the explanatory text.

Is this an actively developed plugin? If so, is there a timeline for the above mentioned features to be added?

Thanks!

I would like to use the sfPropelFileStorage to store files without a requirement for unique filenames. For example, when users upload their pictures to a website, there will always be naming conflicts.

Since the primary key of sfPropelFileStorageInfo is id, and not name, we can definitely store files with the same name, and access them by their id. I know that in order to get nice urls, the filenames should be unique, but for my application it is perfectly fine to access the files by id.

Please consider making unique filenames an option that can be switched on or off by the developer.

Often you need to provide some permissions to users for only some time (like monthly membership). As currently there is no way to do that (or am I wrong?) and I need it in the current project - I made a few changes to my local copy of sfGuard.

To illustrate this with much more cleaner language than english Smile , that's how permissions are checked now:

$c->add(sfGuardUserPermissionPeer::USER_ID, $this->getId());
$c->addOr(sfGuardUserPermissionPeer::VALID_TILL, time(), Criteria::GREATER_THAN);
$c->addOr(sfGuardUserPermissionPeer::VALID_TILL, NULL);

The question is: should I go and submit that "mod" as patch to the current sfGuard or devs thinks that "this doesn't belong"?

Hi,

I implement a request_password method in the sfGuardPlugin.
I created a patch file for it, see above.

Add new lines to application routing.yml:

sf_guard_sendpwd:
  url:   /sendPassword
  param: { module: sfGuardAuth, action: sendPassword }

And change my mail settings in the
sfGuardPlugin/modules/sfGuardAuth/lib/BasesfGuardAuthActions.class.php

I would like to build and sell my commercial product for small-business based on symfony.
But I want to protect my investments, so i decide to create a special plugin for symfony to solve the following tasks:
- copy protection via server hostname/ip binding
- limit concurent connection upon license count
- online usage statisic
- notify about illegal copies
- limited functionality \ demo mode
- smth. else ?
I plan to release plugin under MIT License.
1) Is it interesting for community ?
2) May be someone already make it and i'm re-inventing the wheel ?
3) Any comments/proposals/suggetions ?

Hi all

I'm trying to decide whether its a good idea to use the schema.yml file for sfDoctrine, and instead write the classes myself. Specially since I want to load some of the models from another project using the autoload symfony feature.

But If I do that, I'd like to know if there's a way to declare which connection each model uses instead of the using the conf/schemas.yml file. If there's a place where to write:

$manager->bindComponent('User', 'connection 1');

Thanx

Googling out some symfony topics i found this site in one of the results, im guessing its a personal repository of a symfonian, and it seems hes doin some serious work there.

I just wondered if the guy who runs this is going to put some of his plugins on the symfony site with translated docs, some of the plugins really look interesting (specially the phptal one).

I suppose that all of these are still in beta but by putting them on public it could improve their development too.

I'm having a problem that is probably quite simple (I think), but it has me stumped. My site is using the sfGuard plugin and when I use the command:

$sf_user->getGuardUser()

I get the following output:
object id#73
rather than the username. Now, this only happens on the production server (a shared server). On my Windows machine it works fine.

I'm using symfony 1.0.0 and the production server is a linux box.

Any ideas?

I'm looking over this plugin and it doesn't seem to do anything other than wrap the pear class. Wouldn't it be more useful if it actually saved the event items you create to a database or something?

Am I missing something?

The reason I ask is I need to create an event calendar and would like to avoid creating a second plug-in if this one actually works but for the life of me I don't see how you can actually store anything.

I was using CRUD extensively in last days. In my project I have many I18n tables. Unfortunately I have found out, that CRUD doesn't care for the fact that table has I18nized fields, and includes only those from main table, none from its i18n.

I have tried to develop solution on my own, but I had a problem with instantiating table record, so I could access methods from sfDoctrineRecordI18n.

Can someone help?

This is what I have:

protected function loadMapBuilderClasses()
  {
    $db = new Doctrine_Db_Mock('mock://no-one@localhost/empty','','');
    $conn = Doctrine_Manager::getInstance()->openConnection($db, null, false);
    $this->table = $conn->getTable($this->getClassName());

    // mine patch
    $name = $this->getTable()->getOption('name');
    if ( strcmp('sfDoctrineRecordI18n', get_parent_class(get_parent_class($name))) == 0) {
        $this->i18nTable = $conn->getTable($this->getClassName()."I18n");
    }
    //end of patch
  }

This is what I would like to have:

protected function loadMapBuilderClasses()
  {
    $db = new Doctrine_Db_Mock('mock://no-one@localhost/empty','','');
    $conn = Doctrine_Manager::getInstance()->openConnection($db, null, false);
    $this->table = $conn->getTable($this->getClassName());

    // mine patch
    $name = $this->getTable()->getOption('name');
    if ( strcmp('sfDoctrineRecordI18n', get_parent_class(get_parent_class($name))) == 0) {
        $record = new $name();
        $this->i18nTable = $record->getI18nTable();
    }
    //end of patch
  }

I would also need a possibility to access other to get columns without PK and culture column (I can delete them by hand, but it is always few seconds more saved Wink ).

Boolean fields are not properly handled by CRUD.

First of all in the actions was generated this part of code:
<?php echo $this->getColumnSetter($column, '$newValue ? $value : 0', false, '')?>;

and $value was never set.

Boolean fields are put in html as checkboxes, and checkbox when is not checked, then there is no variable for it in the $_POST/$_GET array, so the check:
if ($newValue = $formData['<?php echo $name ?>'])

generated notice about no index in $formData set.
More over, condition check returned false, and the code for setup of boolean variable to 0 was never done.

I have rewritten part of the code inside of crud generator actions.class.php template and it looks now like this:

<?php foreach ($this->getColumns('') as $index => $column):
$type = $column->getDoctrineType();
$name = $column->getName(); ?>
<?php if($column->isPrimaryKey()) continue ?>
<?php if ($name == 'created_at' || $name == 'updated_at') continue ?>
    if ($newValue = (isset($formData['<?php echo $name ?>']) ? $formData['<?php echo $name ?>'] : NULL))
    {
<?php if ($type == 'date' || $type == 'timestamp'): ?>
<?php $inputPattern = ($type == 'date' ? 'd' : 'g');
$outputPattern = ($type == 'date' ? 'i' : 'I'); ?>
       $dateFormat = new sfDateFormat($this->getUser()->getCulture());
       <?php echo $this->getColumnSetter($column, sprintf('$dateFormat->format($newValue, \'%s\', $dateFormat->getInputPattern(\'%s\'))', $outputPattern, $inputPattern), false, '');?>;
    }
<?php elseif ($type == 'boolean'): ?>
       <?php echo $this->getColumnSetter($column, '$newValue', false, '')?>;
    } else {
       <?php echo $this->getColumnSetter($column, '0', false, '')?>;
    }
<?php elseif ($column->isForeignKey()): ?>
       $<?php echo $this->getSingularName()?>->set('<?php echo $column->getColumnName()?>', (empty($newValue) ? null : $newValue));
    }
<?php else: ?>
	     <?php echo $this->getColumnSetter($column, '$newValue', false, '');?>;
    }
<?php endif; ?>

<?php endforeach; ?>

It is not perfect, as in situation when in the template checkbox field will be removed (for example it depends on credentials) it will be set to false, what is not always required. But I suppose there is no other way than to handle it personally by puting in the edit template object_input_hidden_tag with proper value in case if credentials make it non-editable.

Hi All,

I installed the sfFormValidationPlugin v0.2.0 into an application that I am developing, but I did not enable it. When I was working with some forms I was getting an error from the validator about my app.yml file. While this might be an issue unto itself, it is not what raised my eyebrows.

When I double-checked the enabled plugins for my app, sfFormValidation was not among them. I assume it was not supposed to start validating while disabled, so I guess this is a bug.

Best,

Keith

Hello Friends:

I get the following error at the CLI when trying to install sfControlPanelPlugin:

Quote:

C:\xampp\htdocs\bridges>symfony plugin-install http://plugins.symfony-project.com/sfControlPanelPlugin
>> plugin installing plugin "http://plugi...oject.com/sfControlPanelPlugin"
>> pear Could not download from
>> pear "http://plugins.symfony-project.com/sfControlPanelPlugin"
>> pear Invalid or missing remote package file
>> pear Package
>> pear "http://plugins.symfony-project.com/sfControlPanelPlugin" is
>> pear not valid

[Exception]
install failed

Any help will be appreciated.

UPDATE:

I haven't fixed the issue. But I downloaded the plug in then did a local install.
