The first results in Google are showing 1.0 documentation pages.

e.g.:
http://www.google.com/search?q=symfony+view or
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sfview+api

Wouldn't it be nice if when getting to these pages you're automatically taken to 1.2 (if it exists)? Or (even better) make a cookie setting with your desired documentation version

Not every user is using the symfony 1.2 version. So i don't think this is a good approach. However the google title search result should be displaying additionally the version of the documentation.
If you want to use the search results to encourage the users to use the newest version the best place to do it is on the documentation page.

Maybe I didn't make myself understood, but it would be nice to redirect users to 1.2 by default, and have a cookie-based setting redirecting the "old" users to their corresponding version
