Hello,
There times when I get strange errors in Firefox 3 saying:
--- snip ---
Content Encoding Error
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

--- snip ---
In Firefox 2 it just does not display anything (looks like blank page). In Opera, IE6 and IE7 it is displayed OK. I wonder if anyone else had this kind of problem, and is it a Firefox issue or just web-site issue?
I have attached a screen-shot of the message in Firefox 3.

I apologize I did not give an example page, so, here it is: A week of symfony #85 (11->17 august 2008)
I did a gzip compression test with GIDZipTest⢠and it failed with this error:
Sorry, I am unable to decompress the contents of this page. Possible bogus gzip/deflate encoded data.
However, the test from mod_gzip/gzip Test from whatsmyip.org succeed saying that yes, the web-page is gzipped:
Original Size: 28 KB
Gzipped Size: 8 KB
Data Savings: 71.43%
I've also tried to open the page in lynx and it displayed something like this:

In my opinion it looks more and more like a compression mismatch. I mean the server compresses the content in a way that it cannot be understood by some browsers.
Any ideas?

I'm having this problem, too. And I think it's related to a problem of some "garbage characters" before the real HTML document. This problem I see in some symfony projects and I have just posted about it in another thread, please see:
