Hi,

I'm going to be on an airplane for 16hrs. I'll have my laptop and want to be able to do some programming while on the plane. Though I don't see away to download the API docs anywhere. Are they even available?

I think this used to be available as a PDF, but not any more. Use a website downloader like HTTrack (I think that's right) to download an offline HTML version.

I am confused as to why they would stop offering it. Not everyone programs attached to the net. At least they could offer a way to build the docs using the symfony command straight from the install. I guess I'll have to mirror the docs as you suggested and put them on my thumb drive.

Does anyone know how to convert the docs to PDF? I am sure this could be offered again, and a few people in the fora have asked for it.

thenetimp, you could always raise a documentation ticket on this if you want (check that there isn't one already).

Because every piece of work done on the symfony project has a cost associated with it. Building PDF versions of API docs takes time and time is a finite resource for symfony developers.

OK, why does it have to be PDF. I scraped the API docs off the website in less than an hour using a mirroring tool. I now have HTML versions of all the API doc pages on my hard drive. This process would not be difficult to automate, so that the work is minimal compared to the work it takes to produce a PDF which in my opinion is the worst choice for API docs. Multipage HTML would be the best

I understand that resources are needed to do the job, but one of the things I have seen with the Symfony site is that it loads slow for me, and not having the docs local increases the time it takes for me to build my companies application due to page load time.

If you are willing to set that up on your website, thenetimp, so that the API/docs are downloadable (say in a zip file) I am sure that would be appreciated. I'm sure it would be worthwhile to link from the wiki.
