Why is it so hard to try and setup a project and symfony?

I mean the adding of projects and such through pear and the commandline..

I am on shared hosting and I wanted to give this framework a try so i thought lets install it..

http://www.symfony-project.com/content/book/page/installatio n.html

Now it does not tell me anything where to put pake, creople, phing, prople ???

Then the tutorial to get started..
http://www.symfony-project.com/tutorial/my_first_project.htm l

It assumes automaticaly that you have acces to the cmd to put up a project and such Confused

Isn't there something easy to download and read for people who don't want or can't install it through command line Crying or Very Sad

You might want to read this chapter of the askeet tutorial:

http://www.symfony-project.com/askeet/22

It describes how to install symfony on a shared server.

But my advice is: Install it in your development computer first, before uploading it to a host. And you should have all access rights on your own computer, so PEAR is definitely the best solution.

Yes but will i not get problems when i start uploading the project? ass all files needed for includes will not be there?

Or is it so that if i define a project it creates all needed files in a project directory and i only have to upload the dir and not worry about installing PEAR there?

No, all the needed files are not included if you create a new project with a PEAR installation.

No, you won't have problems to deploy to production.

All the answers you are looking for are in the page I linked to above. You should definitely read it.

I know installing through pear and using the command line etc can be daunting if you're not used to it, but you'll get to like it for its speed of development.

Migrating from local development to a shared hosting is surprisingly easy by the way. It can be as simple as moving 2 directories around.
