Hi there!

I am having some problems executig the symfony command on my project root directory.

Some useful information:

1. symfony file permissions: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root

2. symfony file content:

#!/usr/bin/env php
<?php

/*
 * This file is part of the symfony package.
 * (c) Fabien Potencier <fabien.potencier@symfony-project.com>
 *
 * For the full copyright and license information, please view the LICENSE
 * file that was distributed with this source code.
 */

chdir(dirname(__FILE__));
require_once(dirname(__FILE__).'/config/ProjectConfiguration.class.php');
include(sfCoreAutoload::getInstance()->getBaseDir().'/command/cli.php');

Everytime I execute the symfony command, the result is empty. I'm currently using as development environment Ubuntu 10.04 as operating system and Eclipse PDT as IDE.

Can anyone give me some help?

Thanks in advance,
Best regards!

Make sure you're using ./symfony, or php ./symfony, as 'symfony' may refer to something else in your path. Try "which symfony" to see what is being executed.

Again, try the dot notation. Also perhaps ensure the bang notation is correct at the start of the file, or remove it (and use the "php symfony" approach).

Hi!

The result of php ./symfony command execution is also empty.

On the other hand, the which php ./symfony result is /usr/bin/php and ./symfony.

Any other suggestion?

Thanks for the help,
Best regards!

And my remaining suggestion? Did you try checking/removing the hash-bang line?

Sorry but I'm not quite sure what means the hash-bang line!

Hi!

Here is my current symfony executable file, including the hash-bang line:

#!/usr/bin/env php
<?php

/*
 * This file is part of the symfony package.
 * (c) Fabien Potencier <fabien.potencier@symfony-project.com>
 *
 * For the full copyright and license information, please view the LICENSE

 */

chdir(dirname(__FILE__));
require_once(dirname(__FILE__).'/config/ProjectConfiguration.class.php');
include(sfCoreAutoload::getInstance()->getBaseDir().'/command/cli.php');

Any other suggestion?

Thanks for all the help,
Best regards!

Revert back to day 18, or do a diff to see what changed?

(Hate to ask: did you keep a backup or scm snapshot of the previous day?)

I had the exact same problem today. When running any symfony command would do nothing. No log, no console messages, nothing. The website would continue to run fine.

I found the problem after a while: there was a typo in the task class file that I had just created. When I fixed the typo symfony commands began to run happy as always Smile
