Hello!

For my company I have to extend an existing app based on Symfony 1.0 with has modules generated with Propel's admin generator using a Mysql DB.

I have to develop a screen allowing to fetch (read) data from an Oracle 8I database.

Is this possible ?

I can access without problem to the Oracle DB with Toad but executing a symfony using propel features (build-schema or insert-sql) I get a connexion failure
Native Error: ORA-12513: TNS : le processus d'écoute ne connaît pas actuellement le service demandé dans le descripteur de connexion)
(Sorry for the french error)

I think this error maybe comes from the path of my tns.ora file. In which symfony file will I have to set the path of ORACLE_HOME or LD_LIBRARY_PATH?

It appears from topics on different forums that there are many ways to connect to an oracle database (oci8, by Service Name (TNS?), by Service ID) and some techniques work better that others.

Which way would be the most convenient?

Hey

I found precious information here:

http://wiki.oracle.com/page/PHP+Oracle+FAQ
I successively connected PHP and Oracle and can fetch data using oci8 library but any of my propel commands just fail.

Maybe is it because my database.yml?

I'm connecting to a remote database.
How to specify that in a dsn?

dsn: oracle://user:pwd/host:db

is that syntax correct?

Thanks
OrbYy
