I downloaded a symfony project through subversion that others have had no issues using. I run MAMP 1.84 with PHP 5.3. I also created aliases to the php, mysql, and pear binaries in MAMP in /usr/bin/.

When I open terminal in the project folder and I run
php symfony propel:build-sql
there is a brief pause, no feedback comes, and the terminal prompt shows up again. All of the other commands which should follow show the terminal prompt instantaneously after they are called:
php symfony propel:insert-sql --no-confirmation
php symfony propel:build-all-load --no-confirmation
php symfony cache:clear

It might be notable that I didn't have any php or mysql binaries inside of my /usr/bin/ folder. I've been told that MySQL and PHP are built into OS X, but I remember there being an option (XCode?) that I didn't select for PHP/MySQL somewhere.

Ideas?

Where this has happened in the past, the reporter has discovered that their "symfony" file in the root of their project is empty. It is generated when a project is built, and should have several lines of PHP code in it.

chdir(dirname(__FILE__));
require_once(dirname(__FILE__).'/config/ProjectConfiguration.class.php');
include(sfCoreAutoload::getInstance()->getBaseDir().'/command/cli.php');

That's the php contained in the symfony shell script. The required file and the include both exist in directories on my computer. Is there something more that I'm missing? Or perhaps this refers to the wrong directories?
