In the index view for one of my backend modules I have a block on the right above the filters that shows some summary data related to the view. How can I pass the filters from the index view to my method in the model for this block. And then how do you convert the filters to criteria that you can use in a query?

That might get me there. Can you put anything into the setAttribute call? I know the index view has a $this-filters property. Is there a way to generate a query from those filters? Like query parameter in a custom table_method.
