This is driving me nuts because i figured out how to do it a LONG time ago. and now i've forgotten how i did it. :-S

I'm using sfDoctrineGuardPlugin as the login/registration plugin and i'm using sfPDOSessionStorage to store the session variables in a database.

I'm doing a periodic update every 10 seconds to check to see if there are any changes in the database then i compare the database results against some session variables that i have and change some content on the page using ajax. User is logged in, logged out, etc.

The problem that i have is if the user just clicks the X button and closes the browser without logging out. The system doesn't know that the user is not there anymore. IE. They show up as logged in even though they are not there.(or don't have the browser open)

Has anyone tried to do something like this? Or does anyone have a suggestion on how to make it work.

Thanks Very Much
