Hi all,

I was wondering about performance with sfGuard plugin (i'm using sfDoctrineGuard).

My application has pretty basic security settings, there aren't really any advanced settings, basically each user belongs to a group and that's that, only a few groups.

My question is, does sfDoctrineGuard put significantly heavier load on the database than say just storing a "user type" thing in a cookie for the user? It seems like sfDoctrineGuard adds an extra query on every page that checks credentials, and I'm concerned about this negatively affecting performance.

Any advice/comments are appreciated.

I am also interested in the performance of this plugin as i havent used it before so anyone with any practical experience - PLEASE POST!
If it only adds a single query to every request then this is not going to have adverse affects on performance as for many websites there are multiple db queries for each request. The main issue with querying and speed is often to do with data structure and the reuse of db connections.
