I am trying to follow the Jobeet tutorial but am having a lot of trouble. Please tell me if I am wrong about this...

If I have a database schema already formed in MySQL (including relations and populations), I can use the doctrine:build-schema command to translate this information into the schema.yml file.

Is this correct?

I run the doctrine:build schema command (I already have my database configured in the databases.yml file) and it seems to compile fine--giving me no errors, but nothing shows up in the schema.yml file.

Is this not how its supposed to work? What can I do to overcome this? I am extremely new to this--I was compelled by my professor to work with Symfony for my senior project but it is not going so well so far...Please help!

I just noticed that I have nothing in my plugins folder. Could this be what is causing the problem? Am I supposed to copy plugin files there manually or is this something that I missed during setup?

Hi there

I don't know why doctrine:build-schema does not work for you. Are you sure that you connect to the correct database - meaning the one already containing some tables?

You don't need anything in the plugins folder to get the doctrine task to work - the doctrine plugin is part of core symfony and thus already in the symfony folder.

Thanks so much for the reply Claudia, but I've already got it working. My database connection info was correct, there was just something wrong with my folders. I don't know how it happened but my symfony file in the root directory was blank. I was provided with the text to put into the file and after that my doctrine:build-schema task worked fine. Thanks again!

I generally don't help people who post their message in duplicate, but I missed this one. Posting messages more than once can lead to a duplication of effort - and they are normally deleted on sight around here.
